PASCAGOULA, OPIUM, EDINBURGH, JANUARY 27 2019

Travelling band comes to Edinburgh. I'd never heard of them so, of course, I had to go. Sadly, I recall that not too many people had the same thought. Their loss.

Line-up:

VASARA: Progressive metal from fresh-faced local youngsters playing, it seems, only their second ever gig. Very 'metal' guitar. Where are they now, one wonders...

ANOMOS: 'Groove infused deathcore', whatever THAT is.

SAPIEN: Crusty stoner doom from local veterans. I suspect that the bass players combat troosers could stand up and play a gig by themselves...

PASCAGOULA: Sludgy hardcore noisy lads from Brighton and, indeed, Hove. That's real blood on the singer's chest. by the way. He bled for us.

BLACK GROOVE, LEGENDS, EDINBURGH, FEBRUARY 20 2026

Sludge, chaos and riffs. I'm guessing that NOTAFLOF is not some kind of Pokemon, but means 'No one turned away for lack of funds...
