Another one of those bands that I'd been wanting to see for ages, but never managed to be in the right place at the right time. However, things aligned at last, and I was able to, finally, experience the ear-destroying volume of PART CHIMP at close quarters in Edinburgh.
Line-up:
SAWYER: Indie noise veterans from Fife, playing their first gig in ages, and doing a fine job of it. One of them - the guitarist with the hair - is now a Part Chimp. As you shall see.
VIDEO: https://youtu.be/XNsiDAnMGYc They're far too cool for Facebook, so here's their Wikipedia entry instead. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sawyer_(band)
PART CHIMP: Describe themselves as an 'English rock band'. Well, yes. They're (mostly) English and they are a band and they play rock, so they're not wrong. But that description doesn't really tell the full story. They play a BRUTALLY LOUD kind of indie/noise rock and even without a bass player, as they are tonight, they leave my ears ruined for days afterwards. This is, perhaps, the first time I regret not wearing earplugs. Still, no lasting damage...
