Swiss bands, eh? Like buses they are, wait for ages and then two come along together. First DIRTY SOUND MAGNET and now these lads.
If you're a regular reader you might have noticed quite a lot of METAL in these pages. Now that's fine, I like metal, but I'm more drawn towards the post-rock & post-metal genres, so this gig was a no-brainer for me, even though I had to take a day off work to be here. Bloody Tuesdays...
Line-up:
AV SUNSET: Sturdy instrumental post-rock. Definitely not from Switzerland. They're from Northampton. In England. All of their songs, bar one, are from their current - and only - album 'Disconnections'. The one that isn't, is a brand new one called 'Versus Reality', available for your viewing pleasure in the video below.

VOID OF LIGHT: Tonight is the last VoL gig featuring guitarist Nathan before he buggers off to Japan, which is sad. What ISN'T sad is the towering performance from one of the best post-metal bands in the country right now. They only play 4 songs but, fuck me, they're awesome - an overused word, perhaps, but entirely appropriate in this case.
This is Nathan. Nathan is leaving. Going to Japan. This is his last gig with VOID OF LIGHT.

hubris.: The aforementioned Swiss lads. They've been around for ages but have never played in Scotland before. Well, now they have. Clearly. Post-rock with little dabs of electronica, efficient and professional, as you might expect for a band with nigh on 10 years experience.
