A busy weekend in Legends starts with an evening of Black Metal, and black metal adjacent stuff.
Filth. Pure filth.
Nice poster.
Line-up:
MARAIGH: Brand new band from Glasgow. Tonight is their first ever gig, and their bass player's birthday. I think he's 12.
They're a bit raw, but they've got an interesting punky take on black metal. Oddly, their best and worst songs were both covers. The former is something by the French band MUTIILATION, and the latter an unfortunate version of ALICE IN CHAINS' 'Them Bones'. Bonus points for trying, but no.
Apologies for the terrible pics, but they're fully in the spirit of Black Metal.

OPHANIM: Local progressive black metallers, currently the go-to support for any extreme metal gig in Edinburgh, and getting better with every gig. They do some new stuff (see video below), which is nice, and the ever-evolving old(er) stuff feels fresher. No guitars are broken tonight, but Joplin's monitor falls over. It's not an Ophanim show unless something goes awry.

BA'AL: Blackened post-metal from Sheffield, out on tour with Ofnus. They put a new album out not long ago- 'Ellipsism' - and they play a lot of it tonight. The song in the attached video isn't on it.

OFNUS: Atmospheric black metal from South Wales, out on tour with Ba'al. Nice to see a band with a dress code - black shirt(buttons and everything!), black jeans, black boots, nice hair.
