Venue: BANSHEE LABYRINTH, EDINBURGH
Line-up:
HAMMER: Local thrash-metal bruisers, down to a 4-piece for the night due to guitarist Dave's intestinal disorder. Apparently, he 'shit his pants'... Still, they seemed to manage well enough.
OLIVER WARDELL & PERSONNEL: Technically, this was their gig, as they were promoting their new single. An odd mix of a band - a bit funky, a bit metal, even a bit grindcore-y, maybe. And why not?
BRASSER: Noisy Glaswegian alt-rock/metal duo, inhabiting a place somewhere between Biffy Clyro and Tuskar. Joined on stage at one point by Oliver Wardell for a rousing cover of Meshuggah's 'Demiurge'
HINTENVELTER: Bit of an odd addition to this bill, to be honest, but very welcome nonetheless. They describe themselves as 'grunge/rock/funeral pop' but there's all sorts of other things in there too, even a little hint of latin-america. Guitarist and keyboard player were brand new for this gig, having only been in the band for three days. Fast learners, apparently.
